Materials and Tools
Core Materials: 200–300g of high-purity beeswax; a pure cotton wick sized to fit the container; optional additives such as essential oils or dried flowers for decoration.
Tools: Heat-resistant container; double boiler (for indirect heating); thermometer; stirring rod; heat-resistant glass or ceramic vessel.
Detailed Steps
Melting the Beeswax: Cut the beeswax into small pieces and place them in the top section of a double boiler. Heat over medium-low heat using the water bath method, maintaining a temperature of 65–75°C; do not heat directly over an open flame, as this can degrade the wax.
Adding Additives: Once the beeswax has completely melted, turn off the heat and let it cool to approximately 60°C. Add essential oils at a ratio of 5–10ml per 100g of wax and stir thoroughly.
Securing the Wick: Use a small amount of melted wax to adhere the wick to the bottom of the container. Use chopsticks or a clip to hold the top of the wick in place, ensuring it remains centered and vertical.
Pouring the Wax: When the wax has cooled to about 60°C, pour it slowly into the container, leaving 1–2 cm of headspace at the top to prevent overflow.
Cooling and Finishing: Allow the candle to sit at room temperature for several hours until fully solidified. Trim the wick to a length of 0.5–1 cm; if the surface is uneven, use a heat gun to gently smooth it out.
